Guide for accounting practices
Companies House identity verification for accountants
Identity verification is a Companies House process. CompanyGuard helps a practice review available public evidence across a portfolio; it does not verify a person's identity or submit a verification statement.
What a portfolio monitor can show
CompanyGuard records identity-verification evidence returned by the public Companies House source, together with retrieval time and source health. If that evidence is missing or inconsistent, the action inbox shows UNKNOWN; it does not infer that a person is verified or unverified.
Keep the official process separate
- Use the same personal code for each relevant company role.
- Keep personal codes secure and use Companies House services to provide verification details.
- Check the current ACSP requirements before offering identity verification to clients.
Read the current official guidance on Companies House personal codes and using an Authorised Corporate Service Provider.
Review the workflow
Try the synthetic action inbox before adding a live client portfolio.
CompanyGuard does not file documents, verify identities or provide legal or accounting advice. Confirm duties and evidence using the current Companies House guidance and register.
